Saturday is the ‘most expensive’ day of the week
Consumers spend on average nearly £175 on Saturdays, a new survey has revealed.
According to research from the Co-operative Bank Credit Cards, the total expenditure for a lifetime of Saturday purchases is an average of £549,000.
And 36 per cent of consumers feel guilty about their weekend spending on Mondays, the poll found.
Maxine Xodo, product manager at the credit cards category of the firm, said people in the UK work some of the longest hours in Europe and they feel they need to "let their hair down" on Saturdays.
But Ms Xodo has some advice for shoppers, stating: "It is important for people to keep tabs on their spending so it doesnt come as a shock when their bills come through the door."
Beccy Boden Wilks from National Debtline recently suggested that those people who apply for a payday loan to tide them over at the end of the month may have more serious debt problems.
