Price cuts seen in two of the ‘big six’
Discounts have been implemented by two of the six biggest energy suppliers in the industry, it has been reported.
This will see consumers saving more than £12 million in their gas and electricity, according to SimplySwitch.com.
While the cuts may be welcomed by some customers, one expert has criticised the timing of the decision.
"It's a pity they only come into effect after most people have turned off their heating," said SimplySwitch.com founder Karen Darby.
Ms Darby added that the drop in prices is a good thing after the 80 per cent increase in gas and 52 per cent hike in electricity seen in the industry since January 2004.
Earlier this month, Checkout Magazine reported that SimplySwitch.com has teamed up with Asda in order to offer customers a new utility bill price comparison and switching site.
The new service will be available to 13 million customers.
