Holiday season ’sends Britons into debt’

People in the UK preparing to go on holiday this year may see themselves heading towards debt, it has been reported.

A study from CreditExpert.co.uk, part of Experian, has found that 27 per cent of holidaymakers pay on credit - using a mortgage, loan, their overdraft or a credit card.

Furthermore, it added that six per cent of people admitted that they put themselves in the red with most of the vacations they take.

But 18 per cent of Britons do not seem to mind, claiming money is an afterthought for them.

"Most of us work hard and need a well-earned break, but it’s important that we plan ahead and ensure our bank balance can handle the large outgoings that holidays and other expenses entail," said Jim Hodgkins, managing director of CreditExpert.co.uk.

People looking to leave the country this summer may find that personal loans is an ideal way to pay for a holiday.
