Finances ‘come ahead of sex, work and food’
According to new research, one in four people in the UK ranks money as more important that sex, food and work.
Picture Financial's Happiness Index found that 62 per cent feel happier when their finances are in order, even though 16 per cent admitted to not understanding all of the terminology involved.
Financial illiteracy does not end there, with 1.8 million members of the public telling the company that they never spend time sorting out their finances and close to eight million only do so annually.
"Keeping a track of our incomings and outgoings and being clear about what we want to achieve with our money management can also make a real difference to our bank balance," said Julie Dallimore, marketing director at Picture Financial.
Money charity Credit Action has reported that the UK currently has a combined personal debt mountain of more than £1.3 trillion.
