BBA site achieves record hit rate
The website of the British Banker's Association (BBA) received a record number of visits during March 2007, it has been announced.
Last month, the company received 261,429 online visitors - an 83 per cent increase of 2005.
This beats the previous record, which was set in January, while it also confirms the increasing popularity of finding financial provision on the world wide web, it added.
Indeed, the firm suggested that people are accessing the site for its newsroom, information on dormant accounts and conference and training material.
"The success of the BBA's site is mirrored across the industry with more and more people signing up for phone and internet banking," said Angela Knight CBE, chief executive of the organisation.
Consumer debt may be one reason why people are beginning to turn to online financial advice.
In January, money charity Credit Action claimed that the UK's total arrears mountain stood at more than £1.3 trillion.
